A New York City has always been one to remember. It never mattered what neighborhood you were from you were going to have the best summer. Maybe you were from The Stuy and heading over to Marcy Pool, or The Lower sleeping in under the AC, Harlem headed to Mount Morris Park, The Bronx... It didn't matter most of us have always had some relation to Summer Youth Employment.
Summer Youth Employment
The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is the nation’s largest youth employment program, connecting NYC youth between the ages of 14 and 24 with career exploration opportunities and paid work experience each summer.
Participants have the opportunity to explore their interests and career pathways, develop workplace skills and engage in learning experiences that help in developing their social, civic, and leadership skills.
By participating in structured projects and work-based opportunities, NYC youth are better prepared for careers of the future.
Inspiring The Young People of SYEP
This summer The Culture Candy worked alongside the young people from the Lower, LES (Lower East Side) to teach young artists how to start their art careers. Discussing painting techniques, social issues and industry, young people got a first-hand look into the world that is art.
